BS Tiaki was found for us by Bob Morgan in the back blocks of Ararimu close to the Hunua ranges where he has run free in his paddock since Bob brought Tiaki up to the Auckland area as a 3 month old colt and sold on. He was left to just breed with his last owner's mare each year.
With little handling for over seven years, Tiaki proved straight away why he was an ideal stallion to buy. Nature counts and this pinto family is well known for having great natures and being easy to train. He took to the everyday life of a domesticated horse just like he had been doing it for years. With many thanks to Kiri Matenga for making this transition easier on him.
Tiaki is a grandson to Awatea Farms well known black & white stallion BS Kahurangi. His sire and dam were both coloured stationbreds from the East Coast of the North Island. Standing at 15.2hh and medium boned he will be ideal to breed to any type or sized mare.
His sire BS Apache was a very successful jumping horse, competing up to 1.15m as a 4 and 5 year old before being sold on as a top hunter. BS Apache qualified for HOY Showhunter at his first registered show with his results being no worse than 2nd in 9 classes over the weekend. He had a terrific jumping technique and really knew how to catch the eye of a judge. Tiaki has produced various shades and patterns of colouring in his progeny. He is NOT homozygous(guranteed pinto everytime). His oldest progeny are 5 years old and are following the family tradition of being top hunters. Tiaki is registered with the pinto society and all of his coloured progeny can be too.
